I remember painting majority of this on a night I had slipped away from mom duty and let Dom take the reins for bedtime with Mav. I remember coming to the studio unsure of what to create and holding sadness and stress and wanting to find some sort of calm or refuge. I feel like that is what happened with the palette here too. It’s as if the sun went down and I was exhaling with it. I finished the piece on a random afternoon while on the phone with my friend Taylor..as we talked about our bestie Kyli and how much life has changed since she left. I added fireflies to it before I hung up and now when I look at it it seems to say “even though darkness falls there’s always light, you’re taken care of.”

What a thought process ha.

Maybe you don't need a painting to remind you of that and reading this snippet will be enough but I can’t wait to see who this piece belongs to.
